The use of fabric base moulded section has today replaced the conventional use of gun metal components in the various engineering industries. Due to its inherent properties, fabric base moulded sections have a low co- efficient of friction, low wear and tear, low maintenance costs, longer life resulting in higher rate of production. These laminates can with stand a operational temperature between 80° C to 120° C, and beyond this temperature generally gets charred.
Fabric base moulded section have a good impact strength and better properties and are generally recommended for mechanical and very low electrical applications. Water is used as a general source for lubrication on fabric bearing although at time even a grace is used in coupling at the time of installation of Nylon/Fibre pad.

CHEMISTRY
Phonol and Formaldeyde under heat and pressure forms a highly crosslinked condensation polymer, one step in polymersiation being.
That is how fabric reinforced resin under heat and pressure is cured and polymerized so that it assumes a different chemical composition, becomes hard and will not deform when again subjected to heat.
